Volleyball Weekly Notes: Week 4

Last Time Out
The last time out for EOU, the Mountaineers defeated the Wolves of Walla Walla University, 3-0 (25-8, 25-8, 25-18.). Eastern Oregon only trailed once in the match, which game early in the third set.

Scouting The Teams
Northwest

Northwest comes into Quinn Coliseum with a record of 5-6 and 1-1 in CCC action. The Eagles lost its last match coming into this weekend to Concordia in three sets. For the season, Northwest has a hitting percentage of .170, averaging 11.5 kills per set. Leia Roy ranks fifth in the nation with 269 digs on the season.
Evergreen
The Geoducks broke a 51-match losing streak in August and then a 39-match CCC losing streak last Saturday and now have their eyes set on ending a 27-match road losing streak. Evergreen enters the weekend at 2-4 on the season. Victoria Loves lead the Geoducks with 73 kills on the season.

CCC Opener
On Friday, Sept. 6, EOU opened up Cascade Collegiate Conference play by hosting College of Idaho. EOU swept College of Idaho, 3-0 (25-19., 25,-12, 25-17). This was Eastern Oregon's second victory since 1996 against College of Idaho, with the first coming last season at Quinn Coliseum.

Highest Ranking (Sept. 12)
The first regular season Tachikara-NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll came out on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and the Mountaineers found themselves ranked No. 16. This is the highest the program has been ranked in school history. The previous was No. 19, which happened last season.

All-Tournament Team
The Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Labor Day Tournament Team was just announced earlier this week and Eastern Oregon had two players named to the team. Juniors, Casey Loper and Stefani Sorensen were the EOU members selected to the team. The Mountaineers were 3-1 at the tournament.

Non-Conference Schedule
Eastern Oregon Volleyball closed out its non-conference schedule on Monday night when the Mountaineers hosted Walla Walla University. EOU went 10-2 in its non-conference schedule with victories over then-No. 6 College of Idaho, then-No. 10 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and then-No. 25 Carroll (Mont.). The two non-conference losses for EOU came against then-No. 5 Oklahoma Baptist and Rocky Mountain.
