BABSON PARK, Fla. - Eastern Oregon University improved to 6-1 on the season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-8) victory over Webber International University Wednesday afternoon.
The Mountaineers have won its last nine sets and have not dropped a set since Aug. 23. Casey Loper led EOU with 10 kills on the day. Loper compiled a hitting percentage of .529 for the day. Karly Stack led EOU with 14 assists.
EOU collected the first point of set one and never looked back as the Mountaineers led the entire first set against the Warriors. EOU won set one 25-14.
The Mountaineers took control early in set two and held a four point lead after a kill by Taylor Stewart. Webber International battled back to take its first lead of the match after a Katie Lindstrom kill at, 10-9.
EOU did not let the Warriors hold the lead long as a kill by Stewart gave Eastern Oregon a 15-14 lead. Once taking the lead EOU did not let Webber International get closer than two points the rest of the set. The Mountaineers won set two, 25-21.
Like set one, EOU scored the first point in set three and was off to the races. The Mountaineers jumped out to an 11-4 lead after a Loper kill.
With a 12-8 lead in set three, EOU went on a 13-0 run to close the match by winning set three, 25-8.
EOU returns to the court on Friday when they play No. 5 Oklahoma Baptist at 6 a.m. PT in the Embry-Riddle Labor Day Tournament.
