Last Time Out
The last time the Mountaineers took to the court was on the weekend of Dec. 6th and 7th when they played The Evergreen State College and Northwest University in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opening weekend. The Mountaineers went 1-1 to open up conference play. On Dec. 6, Eastern Oregon defeated Evergreen, 73-54.
Tony Eackles Jr. led the way for the Mountaineers as he scored 17 points.
Kyllian Wood and
Kalvin Johanson both recorded double-doubles for EOU. Wood scored 14 points and collected 13 rebounds, while Johanson scored 12 points and collected a game-high 19 rebounds. The next night, Eastern Oregon Eackles hit a three pointer to tie the game with three seconds to go in the second half but EOU fell, 93-84, in overtime. The Mountaineers had five players score in double digits on the night led by Eackles' 28 points.
Scouting the Opponents
Southern Oregon
The Raiders of Southern Oregon come into the contest against EOU with a 12-1 overall record and a 2-0 conference record and ranked No. 2 in the NAIA. They have currently won nine straight games, with its last win coming on Dec. 14 when they defeated California Maritime, 93-92. Southern Oregon is averaging 89.3 points per game, while only allowing 69.8 points per game. Leading the way is Eric Thompson, who is averaging 20.7 points per game. The Raiders have claimed the last three CCC Red Lion Player of the Week honors.
Oregon Tech
The Owls of Oregon Tech come into this weekend on a three game winning streak. Its last victory came on Dec. 7 when they defeated Concordia 93-88. The Owls are currently 7-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Oregon Tech is averaging 77.6 points per game and shooting 43.1 percent from the floor, while its opponents are averaging 71.2 points per game and shooting 44.3 percent from the floor. Kyle Waits leads the way for the Owls as he is averaging 17.8 points per game.

Eastern Oregon is the top ranked team in four statistic categories coming into this weekend. The Mountaineers rank first in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (35.1), total rebounds per game (48.3), total rebound margin (14.5) and defensive field goal percentage (36.4).
