Soccer Falls to Southern Oregon, 2-0

ASHLAND, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team fell in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships presented by US Bank, Wednesday afternoon. Southern Oregon defeated the Mountaineers, 2-0.

The Raiders had the first scoring chance of the game, seven minutes in. Southern Oregon's Lauren Aldana took a shot and Kailey Moss recorded the save. Thirty seconds later, Shelby Tucker took the first shot of the game for the Mountaineers but Kylie Moltzen kept the game scoreless by recording the save.

Both teams continued to have scoring chances in the first half but neither team could find the back of the net and the game went scoreless into halftime. EOU outshot the Raiders, 7-3, in the first half.

The match remained scoreless until the 62nd minute of the game. Southern Oregon broke the scoreless tie when Julie Zamzow found Sydney Paulsen, who beat Moss from 20 yards out to put the Raiders on top 1-0.

Four minutes later, Southern Oregon scored its second goal of the game. Zamzow crossed the ball to Chloe Welch, who was ten yards out and she beat Moss. This put Southern Oregon on top 2-0.

Eastern Oregon continued to have scoring chances in the contest as Jordann Whitehurst fired a shot on goal but Moltzen made the save. The Mountaineers kept the pressure on and Carolyn Danek fired a shot, which Moltzen saved, and was the last scoring chance for the Mountaineers, who fell by a score of 2-0.

With the loss the Mountaineers fall to 9-5-1 on the season. The nine wins is the second most wins in program history for EOU.
