Soccer Weekly Notes: Week 6

Scouting Opponents
This week the Mountaineers face Northwest Christian and Corban in CCC action. The Beacons of Northwest Christian come into the matchup on Thursday with a record of 3-9-1. The Beacons have scored nine goals on the season and have two players tied for the team lead with two. Northwest Christian comes into the contest having lost its last three games. Corban comes into this weekend with a 7-5-2 record. Leading the way for the Warriors is Audrey Sullivan who leads the team in goals (10) and assists (8).  The Warriors won its last match.

Last Two Games
Last Thursday and Saturday the Mountaineers were faced Evergreen and Northwest in Washington. The Mountaineers went 1-1. EOU defeated Evergreen on Thursday by a score of 4-0. The Mountaineers lost two days later to Northwest, 2-1.

Shutouts
Last Thursday against Evergreen, the Mountaineers defeated the Geoducks, 4-0. This was the sixth shutout of the season for Eastern Oregon. The six shutouts is tied for the most shutouts in one season in the history of the EOU soccer program. The only other time the Mountaineers recorded six shutouts was in 2006.

Multiple Goals
Mauriana Gonzalez scored two goals on Thursday against Evergreen. She is the first Mountaineer to have a multi goal performance this season. For the season Gonzalez has scored three goals, which is tied for the team lead.

Conference Tournament
The Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament starts on Nov. 6. The top two teams in the conference regular season standings earn a bye into the semifinals, which are held on Nov. 9. The championship match is set for Nov. 16. The top six teams in the CCC regular season standings advance to the conference tournament.

Senior Day
Next Saturday, Nov. 2 is the last regular season home soccer game for the Mountaineers. They close out the season by facing College of Idaho at 2:30 p.m.
