The Eastern Oregon University continues to make history. In the sixth edition of the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll the Mountaineers came in at No. 9. This is the highest ranking of the season and the highest in program history.
15 Straight
The Mountaineers have currently won 15 straight matches dating back to August 30 when Eastern Oregon defeated with a victory over Talladega (Ala.) when EOU defeated the Tornados at the Embry-Riddle Labor Day Tournament.
Last Time Out
The last time the Mountaineers took the court was last weekend when the Mountaineers defeated Evergreen, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-22) on Oct. 11 and Northwest, 3-1 (26-24, 25-15, 23-25, 27-25) on Oct. 12. These wins extended the EOU winning streak to 15 straight.
Scouting the Yotes
College of Idaho enters this Friday night matchup against EOU on a five game winning streak and holding an 9-8 overall record and 9-2 CCC record. The Yotes are tied for second in the second in the CCC standings, two games behind EOU, with Concordia. Leading the way for the Yotes is Liz Myers, who has recorded 191 kills this season. Sierra Porter leads College of Idaho with 659 assists while Janel Porter leads the team in digs 342.
CCC Red Lion POW
Senior setter,
Karly Stack was named CCC Red Lion Volleyball Offensive Player of the week on Monday. Stack led the then- No. 10 ranked Mountaineers to victories over Evergreen and Northwest. On Friday Stack dished out 37 assists. She increased her assists by 20 the next night as she recorded 57 assists on Saturday night, which is a season-high. Stack also recorded 13 digs and five kills and two block assists on the weekend.
Last time against the Yotes
The last time Eastern Oregon played College of Idaho was on Sept. 6 when EOU came away with a, 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-17) victory.
Casey Loper led the Mountaineers with 11 kills followed by
Stefani Sorensen's 8.
Karly Stack led EOU with 17 assists.
EOU Stat Rankings
The Mountaineers top the CCC statistical charts as a team in three different categories. EOU leads the conference in hitting percentage, assists per game and kills per game. For the season the Mountaineers are recording a hitting percentage of .250, while averaging 12.93 assists per set and 13.83 kills per set. Those are also rank in the top 25 in the nation. EOU is third in the NAIA in assists per set, eighth in kills per set and 18th in hitting percentage.
Loper leads the CCC
Casey Loper leads the CCC in hitting percentage on the season, as she is hitting .377 on the season. This is also 12th best in the NAIA.
