National Player of the Week
Chris McGinnis-Parker has been named NAIA Football National Offensive Player of the Week the national office announced Monday. He was selected based on his performance during the week of Sept. 23 – 29. McGinnis-Parker, a Stockton, Calif., native, rushed for a game-high 187 yards on 31 carries in the Mountaineers upset victory over No. 3 Carroll (Mont.). The 187-yard performance was also a career-high for the senior running back. McGinnis-Parker recorded four touchdowns on the day: three by way of the rush and one via a 19-yard reception—his lone catch of the game—that would prove to be the game-winning score. Three of McGinnis-Parker's touchdowns came in the fourth quarter, as Eastern Oregon mounted a comeback against the Fighting Saints. He becomes the first Mountaineers running back since Oct. 30, 2010 to have 30 plus carries in a single game and the first since Sept. 17, 2011 to rush for three touchdowns in a game.
Frontier Players of the Week
Chris McGinnis-Parker has been named Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate
Matt Gayman has been named Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the Frontier Conference office announced Monday. These were the first Frontier Player of the Week honors for the Mountaineers this season. Gayman recorded a game-high in tackles with eight solo and six assisted tackles. He anchored the Mountaineers defense that held then-No. 3 Carroll scoreless in the fourth quarter. Gayman also had two tackles for losses.
EOU Upsets Carroll
Eastern Oregon University football used a fourth quarter comeback to claim its first victory of the season with a 35-31 upset victory over No. 3 Carroll College last Saturday afternoon.
Chris McGinnis-Parker scored four touchdowns and rushed for 187 yards on 31 carries. McGinnis-Parker scored the game winning touchdown on a 19 yard pass play from
Dominique Blackman with 12 seconds left in the game.
EOU vs. University of Montana Western
Eastern Oregon and Montana Western have met a total of 20 times with EOU leading the all-time series, 13-7. The first meeting between these schools came in 1979, when it was Western Montana. The Mountaineers lost the game by a score of 42-28. The two teams played agains in 1980 but that was the last time until the series renewed in 2002. Below are the results from the last five years:

Looking at Montana Western
Montana Western enters the contest against the Mountaineers with a 3-1 overall record and a 3-1 Frontier Conference record. The Bulldogs come into the game with the seventh best running team in the NAIA. They are led by Sam Rutherford, who has rushed for 650 yards on the season, which is third best in the nation. Rutherford is fourth in the nation has he averages 162.5 yards per game. Montana Western is averaging 35.8 points per game while giving up 25.8.
Last Year's Matchups
Last season the Mountaineers and Bulldogs met twice. The Bulldogs won both games for its first win over EOU since Nov. 6, 2010. Montana Western traveled to La Grande on Sept. 29 and defeated EOU 16-3. Montana Western also defeated the Mountaineers in Dillon on Nov. 10 by a score of 41-20.
