EOU Falls in Close Match

Box Score

SALEM, Or – Corban University women's soccer team defeated Eastern Oregon University 3-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup at Warrior field.

The first goal by the Warriors (6-3-0) came early in the contest. Katelyn Weaver put the ball in the back of the net three minutes into the contest , which was assisted by Audrey Sullivan. Less then eight minutes later Corban struck again, this time from a Sullivan cross which found Emily Tsugawa and she too put the ball away.

Corban took a 2-0 lead into halftime, but that deficit would not last long. EOU (0-7-0) pulled within one in the 56th minute as Mauriana Gonzalez  scored off a header from a free kick by Danielle Robinson.

That is as close as the Mountaineers would come on the night as the Warriors would soon score again.

In the 63rd minute Corban increased the lead back to two. Sullivan scored for the second time on the night, as she received a through pass from Weaver that went behind EOUs defense and she again capitilized.

The Warriors out shot Eastern, 14-6 with 10 of those being on target compared to 3 by EOU. The Mountaineers' Kailey Moss had seven saves in the loss. Corban had three corner kicks, while EOU took zero.

The Mountaineers will travel to Eugene, to face Northwest Christian tomorrow night. Live stats will be on EOUSports.com.
