LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team announced the hiring of Mark Platts as its assistant coach.
Platts has a lot of collegiate coaching experience, specifically in the NAIA. He recently finished his second season as the head women's soccer coach at Point Park University, an NAIA school in Pittsburgh, Penn.
In his second season, he led PPU to their first ever American Mideast Conference tournament berth with only one recruiting class to his resume.
Previously, Platts was an assistant women's soccer coach at Walsh University from 2006 to 2010, during which he was heavily involved in the day to day training and recruiting processes, as well as academic monitoring and assistance. He also taught full time in the school of business. In his four years, Walsh reached the conference tournament three times and saw many members of the program receive athletic and academic accolades.
Platts holds a USSF National “C” license and NSCAA State and Regional Goalkeeping Diploma.
“Mark will be an excellent addition to our program,” EOU head coach Jennifer Simonetti said. “He is a extremely qualified assistant coach and will be joining our program this spring. He is very excited to be working with all of the players.”
