No. 9 EOU Pulls Away to 82-60 Road Victory

Ashland, Ore. –The No. 9 ranked Eastern Oregon women's basketball team picked up their third conference win on the road tonight with a win over Southern Oregon University, 82-60.

Eastern (12-2, 3-0 CCC) had three players finish in double figures. Brooke Randall led EOU in scoring with 21 points. Korrie Bourn finished with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while teammate Kelsea Hurliman also had18 points and 5 assists.

Ashley Claussen led Southern (12-2, 2-1 CCC) with 12 points and 5 rebounds while Allison Gida added 10 points.

Korrie Bourn would lead the Mountaineers in the first half with 14 points and 5 rebounds. As a team Eastern would shoot 41% (15-of-37) from the field and 55% (6-of-11) from behind the arc, compared to Southern who shot just 38% (11-of-29) from the field and only 11% (1-of-9) from the three point line. The Mountaineers would go into the halftime up, 40-25.

EOU would finish the game shooting 44% (33-of-74) from the field and 42% (11-of-26) from down town. Southern shot 40% (23-of-57) from the field and only 23% (4-of-17) from behind the arc. The Mountaineers outscored the Raiders 40-20 in the paint, and turned the Raiders 19 turnovers into 30 points.

“I am so proud of how our team played tonight. We talked a lot going into this weekend about how to handle the pressure of this game. Southern is a tough place to play and we were able to stick to our game plan, play within ourselves, and do the things we needed to do to be successful,” head coach Anji Weissenfluh stated, “ we had 3 seniors have huge games for us –Korrie, Kelsea and Brooke really came ready to play.”
