La Grande, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon women's basketball team picked up where they left off last night beating New Hope Christian College for the second night in a row 83-40.
 
In the first half EOU (2-0, 0-0 CCC) was quick to get on the scoreboard scoring on their first possession. From then on the Mountaineers would score early and often. Much like the previous night, New Hope didn't have an answer for the Mountaineers offense as EOU took a commanding 19 point lead into halftime with a score of, 43-24.
 
EOU came out in the second half with intensity. With 12:44 to play the mountaineers went on a run extending their lead to as much as 43 points before New Hope was able to score a basket in the last 10 seconds to play. Eastern out scored New Hope 40-16 in the half. 
 
 
"I was really pleased with how we came out and played in the second half tonight. Our full court defensive intensity was also what allowed us to have success tonight. Our point guards, Nicole Redd and Tina Miller did a great job stepping up, playing with confidence, and knocking down shots when we needed them," coach Anji Weissenfluh added.  
 
All of the Mountaineers were able to see the court Saturday night. EOU was led by junior Nicole Redd with 19 points and 2 steals. Korrie Bourn added 11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.
 
The deacons were lead by Deanna Tupai with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Chelsea Dyson added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
 
As a team Eastern shot 61.1% from the field and out rebounded New Hope 50-33. 
 
Eastern will travel to Walla Walla University next week on Oct. 31. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at EOUsports.com
