EOU Wins Home Opener

Box Score

La Grande, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon Women's Basketball team defeated New Hope Christian College 67-50, in their home opener Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.

The Mountaineers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. It wasn't until the 13:15 minute mark and a 3-pointer by Lea Lolohea that New Hope was able to get on the scoreboard making the game 12-3.

Eastern went into the locker room at half up 40-13.

In the second half New Hope was able to cut Easters' lead to 16, but Easters' intensity proved to be too much to handle.

“I was excited to see the intensity that the team played with. Jorie had an outstanding performance and really lead the team tonight. We need to continue to work hard and improve on the little things,” coach Weissenfluh added.

Jorie Freeman led the mountaineers with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Nichole Redd and Korrie Bourn also added 10 and 7 respectively.

New Hope was lead by Lea Lolohea's 11 points and 5 rebounds. Deanna Tupai and Chelsea Dyson each added 9 points.

Eastern will face New Hope Christian College again tomorrow night in Quinn Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at EOUsports.com
