Soccer Finds First Victory Against the Knights

La Grande, Ore, - The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers won their first soccer game of the 2012 season Friday afternoon against Warner Pacific, 3-2.
 
Courtney Randall, Carolyn Danek and Quincy Moore all scored a goal in the victory over the Knights (1-9, 0-4 CCC).
 
Warner Pacific would score the first goal of the match in the 24th minute. A shot was deflected off the cross bar and Molly Klinkhammer found herself alone and nailed one in.
 
The Mountaineers (1-10, 1-3 CCC) answered back in the 41st minute, when Gonzalez connected with Randall and she put the ball away.
 
In the second half the Mountaineers had their offense rolling. Kaelina Devera received a through ball from Kelli Jones and put the ball in the back of the net from 20 yards out in the 56th minute.  
 
The third goal came unassisted by Quincy Moore in the 58th minute. With a defender on her hip she took a long hard shot and the ball beamed pass the goalie into the net. 
 
Eastern would give up one more goal in the 87th minute but held on to the lead in the final minutes of play.
 
The Mountaineers ended the match with 24 total shots, 15 coming on goal. Warner Pacific had 5 shots on the day, 3 of those coming on goal.
 
The Mountaineers next match is this Sunday, October 14th, at home against Concordia University. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
