The Mountaineers (0-1) were overwhelmed by the nation's 21st-ranked team. Carroll powered away from EOU early thanks to four first half goals from Meghan O'Connell. The senior made her way through the Eastern defense and exhibited why she is third on the Saints' all-time goal scoring list.

O'Connell scored her 40th career goal in the seventh minute of play unassisted. Seven minutes later, Molly Clark found O'Connell for her second goal. O'Connell found the back of the net again in the 17th minute with another unassisted goal. McKinley Dennis found the first of two assists for O'Connell's final goal in the 38th minute.

In the 67th minute, Ellison drove in an assist from Macie Netz. Netz would grab her second assist in an 11-minute span, finding Laura Maddock for a Saints' goal. Less than a minute later, Netz would grab the first of two goals. Clark was credited with an assist for Netz's first goal and Netz's 85th minute goal was unassisted.

Mauriana Gonzalez would complete the scoring with a goal for Eastern. The sophomore found the back of the net off of a penalty kick just outside of the 18-yard box in the 86th minute. It is Gonzalez's third career goal.
