Knights Defend its Field in Victory

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University dropped a conference game at Warner Pacific College Saturday, 1-0.

The Knights (2-2-1, 1-2-0) got the lone goal from Anna Blakeslee in the 38th minute of play. The goal was unassisted as Blakeslee recorded a breakaway goal that tipped off EOU goalkeeper, Chantal Schefers, and found the left side of the net.

Eastern won a 2-0 decision last season in La Grande when it finished with 28 shots, 14 on goal. Saturday, the Mountaineers had a total of four shots, putting two on goal. WPC recorded nine shots, with four on goal.

Amanda Swenson had a pair of shots for Eastern Oregon. Blakeslee had a game-high five shots, while Julie Schmitz added three. Schefers ended with five saves and Nikita Rivera had four saves.

The Mountaineers stay in Portland and face No. 5 Concordia (7-3-1, 2-0-0) Monday.
