CALDWELL, Idaho – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team dropped its Cascade Collegiate Conference season opener Saturday at The College of Idaho, 5-0.

Scoring four goals in the final 15 minutes, The College of Idaho ended a five-game losing streak with a convincing 5-0 victory over Eastern Oregon in the Cascade Conference women's soccer opener at Simplot Stadium.

The Lady Yotes (3-5, 1-0 CCC) held a 26-2 edge in total shots, but tallied just a Chelsea Heffner goal in the 21st minute – leading 1-0 late in the game busting the game open.   Taylor Culver headed home a Macy Egerman corner in the 76th minute, with Jessica Ayala taking a Culver through-ball in the 84th minute and scoring on a breakaway to make it 3-0.  Egerman got in the scoring act in the 87th minute, slotting home a Kelly Hardegree-Ullman cross, with Brianna Strodtbeck closing the scoring inside the final minute with a strike off a Sarah Neufeld feed.

The Mountaineers (2-5, 0-1) stayed in the game thanks to keeper Chantal Schefers, who made seven saves. Erika Whitehurst and Mauriana Gonzalez each had a shot, with Gonzalez's on goal.

The Mountaineers travel to Warner Pacific College next Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
