Another Shutout Win For Eastern

BOX SCORE

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team defeated The Evergreen State College Friday, 2-0.

Lauren Robideau and Katie Yarnell each found the back of the net to give EOU its second straight win. Chantal Schefers picked up her second shutout of the season as well.

"We had a chance to fight and we did that," EOU head coach Keith Scarlett said. "We capitalized on the opportunities. For us what's important is to be organized when we don't have the ball and defend to the end. It was a terrific result for the direction of our program, to go on the road and continue moving forward. We battled for 90 minutes and on this day that was exactly what was needed."

After a scoreless first half, Robideau broke the tie with a goal in the 64th minute. It was the junior's fourth goal of the season for Eastern (2-4-1). Yarnell added the second goal in the 73rd minute of play.

Schefers made three saves in her second career shutout. Brienna Ewoldt made six saves in the contest for TESC. EOU outshot the Geoducks, 18-5, and had an 8-3 shots on goal advantage. Both teams took three corner kicks each.

"We came together and are playing more like a team," Eastern's Malayna Lankert said. "Two shut outs puts us in a good spot for conference. Now we have to focus and hold onto this spot and keep moving forward."

Robideau took seven shots in the game to lead Eastern Oregon. Brianna Speed took two shots for Evergreen (0-5-1).

The Mountaineers travel to Northwest University Saturday for a 1 p.m. start. The Eagles fell 4-1 Friday to The College of Idaho. Evergreen will host The College of Idaho Saturday at 1 p.m.
