LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University women's soccer team won in thrilling fashion Saturday, 1-0, in the first extra period.
Katie Yarnell found the back on the net in the 100th minute of play to give the Mountaineers (3-6-1) (3-3) the win. EOU finished with two shots on goal, while Oregon Tech failed to capitalize on its 12 shots on goal. The Mountaineers recorded five shots and OIT had 23. Tech's Rebekah Nesbit had a game-high six shots, putting three on the net.
“As a coaching staff we are pleased,” EOU head coach Keith Scarlett said. “I'm happy that we came out won this conference game and kept a clean sheet. It is something to build on as we look forward to next week. It was a good all-around team win and I am very satisfied about how the girls worked for each other to get the result.”

Chantal Schefers finished with a shutout after making 12 saves. Anna Tozier made one save for the Owls.
The Mountaineers travel to Northwest Christian and Corban University in their next games on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.
