LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team won it's 17th game of the season Saturday over Concordia, 83-72.
Jordan Gregg paced the Mountaineers (17-6) (10-3) with his 15th career double-double. The senior finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Gregg shot 8 for 12 from the field.
EOU is now 15-1 when shooting a better shooting percentage than its opponents, 11-0 when shooting 50 percent or better from the field, and 8-0 when wearing its gray uniforms.
Concordia (14-9) (4-8) was led by Jourdan Sweeney's game-high 24 points. Sweeney was 10 for 13 from the field. Gage Aker and Alex Tiefenthaler added 14 and 10 points the Cavaliers.
Four Mountaineers scored double digits in the game.
Jacques Wilson finished with 19 points,
Dan Stafford had 16, and
Thomas McCarthy added 10.
Josh Cottle and
Cody Thurmond finished with seven and six assists for Eastern Oregon. Aker had five for Concordia.
Eastern hit 13 of its 26 three-pointers in the game. EOU finished 52 percent from the field. The Mountaineers outrebounded the Cavs, 36-26.
Eastern Oregon led 22-13 with 11:43 remaining in the first half, before CU went on a 14-5 run to tie the game five minutes later. Concordia took a one-point lead three times before halftime. Drew Preuninger hit a three-pointer just into the second half to give the Cavaliers their largest lead, 40-38. EOU responded with a 17-5 run and coast from there.
The Mountaineers travel to Caldwell, Idaho Friday to play The College of Idaho (17-5) (9-3). The Yotes fell to Warner Pacific College Saturday, 96-91. Concordia hosts Corban College Friday. The Warriors fell Saturday to No. 3 Oregon Tech.
