Mountaineers Open with Cascade Conference Win against Corban

The Eastern Oregon Volleyball team opened up Cascade Conference play on the road against Corban College winning the match in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-14, and 25-19.

“It was a great first conference win for us” head coach Kaki Morehead said, “We played strong and played together, which is how we need to play all season long.”

Senior Grace Deboodt led the team with 17 kills and ten digs, followed by Jessica Lee with eight kills, 16 assists, and 13 digs. Melanie Ceciliani had eight kills, Kaitlyn Duncan ten digs, and Chelsea Herron had a team high 19 assists.

Eastern forced the Warriors to 20 attack errors on the night as Corban was lead by Morgan Hirzel with seven kills, Rebecca Franke 17 digs, and Karisa Calderon 15 assist. The Mountaineers even there overall record tonight to 3-3 and 1-0 in the CCC.

Corban falls to 1-6 overall and is 0-1 in CCC play. The Mountaineers will play again tomorrow against Northwest University at 7 p.m. EOU will open up conference play at home September 11 & 12 against Southern Oregon University and Oregon Institute of Technology, game times set for 7 p.m.
