LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University volleyball team fell to nationally ranked No. 7 College of Idaho. However they did not go down easy forcing the match to five games, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 28-26, 7-15.
“Our girls played good tonight and showed that we are a force in our conference” EOU head coach Kaki Morehead stated, “Hopefully we can carry that into the second half of the season.”
Eastern Oregon's Jessica Lea finished the night with a triple double tallying 13 kills, 19 assists, and 13 digs. Teammates Grace Deboodt contributed adding 14 kills and 20 digs, while Chelsea Herron had 26 assists. The College of Idaho was lead by Kathryn Ely with 16 kills, Madie Machurek 46 assists, and Whitney Owen with 31 digs.
After tonight's game Eastern sits tied for third at 4-2 with Concordia, behind Southern Oregon 6-1, and the College of Idaho 6-0.
The Mountaineers will play again at home next weekend against Evergreen State College and Northwest University; both games are set for 7 p.m.
