EOU Women Upset No. 24 Concordia

Eastern Oregon picks up road victory behind double-double from Tana Stickney

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team picked up a big road victory at No. 24 Concordia University Wednesday, 63-51.

The Mountaineers were led by 19 points and 10 rebounds from Tana Stickney. The senior was seven for 14 from the field. Samantha Flett added 15 points for EOU. The junior had 11 points in the first half.

Eastern shot 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the perimeter. The Mountaineers held the Cavaliers to 18 percent shooting from behind the arc. CU finished shooting 33 percent from the field. EOU was also 11 for 15 from the free throw line.

Concordia was led by Danielle Clauson's 14 points. Mariah Ladd had a team-high nine rebounds for the Cavaliers.

The Mountaineers (9-5) (4-1) outrebounded CU, 42-35, and had 12 assists to the Cavaliers nine. EOU committed 22 turnovers, compared to Concordia's 19.

The loss ended a two-game win streak for Concordia, while Eastern has now won three straight. It was the Cavaliers (8-5) (2-2) first loss at home this season.

The Mountaineers stretched a 26-23 halftime lead into a comfortable double digit lead in the second half. Eastern Oregon will stay in Portland and play at Warner Pacific College Thursday. The tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be streamed on EOUSports.com through CCC TV and Penn Atlantic.

WPC (7-6) (2-2) defeated The College of Idaho Thursday, 65-62. Kelsey Mattsen and Marissa Towry each had a game-high 15 points to lead the Knights.
