Mountaineers Win in Southern California

EOU grabs second win at Hope International

FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team improved to 2-2 with a 69-58 victory at Hope International University Friday.

Kyle Miller and Tana Stickney combined for 47 of the Mountaineers' 69 points in the win. Miller, a sophomore, shot 8 for 18 from the field, including 3 for 8 from behind the perimeter. Stickney was 7 for 10 from the field, and 4 for 5 from three-point range. Stickney also had a game-high 10 rebounds in the victory.

Sara Lycans-Roy led the Royals with 12 points. HIU has five players with nine or more points. Hope International had its last lead minutes before the half at 26-25.

Eastern's largest lead was 14 points in the game and led 29-26 at halftime. EOU opened the margin between the teams with an 11-2 run that stretched from just before halftime and into the second half.

The Mountaineers shot 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the perimeter. EOU outrebounded HIU, 44-34.

Eastern Oregon will travel to El Cajon, Calif., for Saturday's game at San Diego Christian College. The tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Fans can follow the game with live stats at www.sdcc.edu/livestats/xlive.htm
