CALDWELL, Idaho – The Eastern Oregon University soccer team fell on the road Saturday to rival The College of Idaho, 3-0.
The 'Yotes broke last season's record for shutouts in a season recording their ninth of the year. The College of Idaho also scored its 39th goal, tying its school record set in 2002.
The 'Yotes Taylor Culver scored the game's first goal in the 16th minute with a 30-foot free kick. COI found the net again four minutes later off of a nicely place cross from Chelsea Heffner to the foot of Jessica Ayala. Nineteen seconds into the second half The College of Idaho found the back of the net for the final time. Erika Mouritsen touched home a rebound of a Mandy Greif shot.
EOU took seven shots compared to the 'Yotes 24. COI put 14 on the net, while the Mountaineers had only five shots on goal. Eastern travels to Warner Pacific College Friday at 1 p.m.
