Douglas Heron joined the Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball coaching staff in 2025 as an Assistant Coach.

Before coming to EOU, Heron gained valuable experience at the Division I level, serving as a Student Manager for the University of South Carolina Men’s Basketball program from 2022–2023, and as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Seattle University from 2023–2025.

During his time at Seattle, Heron helped guide the Redhawks to one of the best defensive seasons in program history — finishing top 75 nationally in KenPom defensive efficiency, earning 23 wins, and capturing the 2024 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) Championship. Seattle also achieved a 117 NET ranking, the highest end-of-season ranking in program history. Heron coached multiple players who went on to compete in the NBA G-League and overseas.

Heron earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport & Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina in 2023 and his Master of Science in Business Analytics from Seattle University in 2025.

Originally from Emerson, New Jersey, Heron brings a data-driven and development-focused approach to the Mountaineer basketball program.
