Assistant Coach | 8th Season
Bob Heistuman enters his eighth year coaching at Eastern Oregon University in 2021-22. He skied over 15 feet in high school and his record remains as a reminder to all local vaulters of the legacy and impact Coach Heistuman has had in the vault community. Not only does he still have La Grande High School’s record but he went on to vault at the University of Oregon.Â

Heistuman has coached five National Champions in the vault and numerous All-Americans since joining the Mountaineers.

Heistuman began his coaching career in 2000 with the “Raising The Bar” track club in the Springfield/Eugene area, working with many of the best high school vaulters in Oregon. Additionally, Heistuman has served as a high level pole vault official, working numerous NCAA Division I Championship meets, NCAA Division I Regional meets, Pac-12 Championships, two US Olympic Trials Championships and numerous other meets, from high school to elite meets such as the Prefontaine Invite, one of the top professional meets in the world.

Heistuman works full time in the community and he and his wife, Kim, live in La Grande.
