Michael Garoutte

Michael Garoutte joined the EOU softball program as an assistant coach in 2015.

After serving an assistant softball coach at Yuma High School, Garoutte became the outfield/hitting and associate head coach at Central Washington University from 2002-06.

From 2006-2008, Garoutte traveled to Michigan to be the head softball coach at Kalamazoo College, a competitive NCAA Division III program. During his tenure at Kalamazoo, he also served as the assistant football coach for defensive backs and special teams.

Garoutte returned to prep softball for a few years before returning to Central Washington as the pitching/catching coach from 2010-15. In a combined stretch of 10 years, he coached 43 G.N.A.C. academic all-conference players and 41 G.N.A.C. all-conference players.

In 1998, Garoutte graduated from Central Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology Education with a minor in athletic coaching. He ultimately graduated from his alma mater with a Master of Science in Exercise Science in 2009. 

Garoutte played for the U.S. Navy All-Navy Fastpitch Softball Team from 1988 to 1991. He garnered Conference Pitcher of the Year honors in both 2011 and 2014.
