Following a successful playing career for the Mountaineer softball team, Katie Martell joined the EOU coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2014.
For two seasons, Martell played third base for EOU and served as the team captain during her senior campaign. In 2014, she launched three homers and led the Mountaineers with 25 RBI.Â
Prior to EOU, Martell was a two-time All-NWAACC selection at Walla Walla Community College. In 2012, she reaped both first-team and academic all-conference honors.
In her current role, Martell works with outfielders, infielders (third base), hitters, and is also EOU’s first base coach.
After receiving her associate degree from Walla Walla Community College, Martell graduated from EOU in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with a concentration on early childhood education.
Born in Kennewick, Wash., to John and Karen Martell, she has one sister (Amy) and one brother-in-law (Aaron). Martell’s hobbies include camping, fishing, outdoor activities, and spending time with family.
Martell is currently working on her Master of Science in Education at EOU.Â
