Russell Yap

Russell Yap joined EOU athletics as the Head Athletic Trainer in 2007. Though his focus is on Football and Men's Basketball, he helps manage the coverage and care for all EOU student athletes.

Prior to EOU, Yap was an assistant athletic trainer for Missouri University of Science and Technology. He was there for two years, working with sports similar to EOU. Before Missouri, Yap did his post graduate work at Southwest Oklahoma State University and worked with many of their sport teams.

Yap did a one-year internship with New Mexico State University working with their football, softball, and baseball teams. While working on his Bachelor’s degree from Oregon State, Yap worked with varies sports teams. While in the Oregon State’s ATEP program he spent a term working with Western Oregon University's sport medicine staff and their spring sport teams.

"EOU is a great small town college, and EOU athletics has become an intrigue part of the community and university. Here student-athletes can grow to become the best they can be in both their sport and in their education."

"Our goal each year, as a sport medicine staff, is to provide the best care available for all student-athletes, and to make sure that they are as safe as possible participating in their respected sport or returning to that sport."

Yap received his Bachelors in Exercises and Sports Science from Oregon State University and his Masters in Education from Southwest Oklahoma State University. He has been a certified athletic trainer since 2002.
