NAMPA, Idaho – Eastern Oregon men's and women's cross country kicked off the 2025 season at the Northwest Nazarene University Invite on Friday morning, with both teams finishing fourth in a deep field of ranked programs.
The race featured just one other Cascade Collegiate Conference squad in the College of Idaho, alongside competitors from the host NNU, College of Southern Idaho, Treasure Valley Community College, and some unattached runners.
The men totaled 98 points in the 8k, led by
Thomas Ogden who placed eighth with a time of 25:51.5.
Hunter Marlatt was next in 18th (26:47.4), followed by
Trevor Nichols who was 24th (27:07.5).
Rounding out the scoring for the men were
Riley Brown (31st, 27:26.1),
James Thatcher (40th, 27:48.8),
Grady Greenwood (42nd, 27:59.6), and
Skyler Perkins (43rd, 28:03.4).
On the women's side, the Mounties finished with 76 points in the 6k.
Riley Morris led the way with a second-place finish at 22:37.1, marking the fourth fastest time in program history.
Kaleah Hines followed in 16th (23:53.6), closely trailed by
Sadie McCoy in 17th (23:54.1).
Also contributing to the women's scoring were
Kiah Carlson (23rd, 24:23.7),
Mattie Woodbury (30th, 24:49.8),
Taylor Redick (32nd, 25:21.5), and
Kennedy Taylor (38th, 25:56.6).

Ben Welch expressed that all in all, both teams had quality races for it being early in the season, and they look to continue building upon today's performances.
Next up for Eastern is the Willamette Charles Bowles Invite in Salem, Oregon on October 4.
