HELENA, Mont. – The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers wrapped up their 2025 season Saturday afternoon with a gritty 12–0 loss to the No. 14-ranked Carroll College Saints. Despite a tough and resilient effort, the Mountaineers finished the year with a 4–6 overall record and a 3–3 mark in Frontier Conference play.
The Mountaineers' defense played tough in the first half, keeping the Saints out of the end zone and allowing only a 27-yard field goal late in the second quarter. With less than a minute left in the half, Eastern Oregon was driving and close to scoring, but an interception gave the Saints the ball back, and they took advantage to extend their lead.Carroll's 3–0 advantage held until the third quarter, when a safety increased their lead to 5–0. On the next drive, the Saints struck quickly, converting a 15-yard touchdown pass to push their lead to 12–0. The Mountaineers' defense, however, would hold Carroll scoreless the rest of the way, but Eastern Oregon could not break through offensively.
Despite a valiant effort, the Mountaineers were limited to just 129 total yards (109 rushing, 20 passing), converting only five first downs and struggling with ball security, turning it over three times on fumbles.
Standout performances came from senior running back
Brody Macmillan, who rushed 15 times for 85 yards, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Defensively, linebacker
Michael Lenke led the team with 13 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a total of 12 yards of lost yardage. Defensive backs
Cole Martin and
Nehemiah Medrano each recorded 12 tackles – both adding a pass breakup. On special teams, punter
Ethan Cutler had a strong day, booting 8 punts for 328 yards, including a long of 52 yards and 5 punts inside the 20-yard line.
The game also marked the end of 13 Mountaineers' careers, with these seniors leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication to the program. The remainder of the team will now turn their focus to the offseason, as they look to build and prepare for a strong 2026 campaign.
