LEWISTON, Idaho – Eastern Oregon cross country continued its season with a solid showing at the Lewis-Clark State Invitational on Saturday, competing against a strong field that included several NCAA Division I programs and top-ranked NAIA teams.
The Mountaineer men finished fourth overall with 96 points, the highest-placing NAIA squad. EOU trailed only DI opponents Gonzaga University, University of Montana, and University Idaho, while out-performing No. 14 Carroll College and RV LC State.
Thomas Ogden led the pack, placing 12th overall in 24:24 as the top NAIA runner.
Grady Greenwood followed closely in 15th (24:32), also ahead of all other NAIA competitors. Rounding out EOU's top five were
Darian Slack (33rd, 25:10),
Hunter Marlatt (36th, 25:15), and
Trevor Nichols (37th, 25:16).
The No. 16-ranked women claimed sixth place with 144 points, finishing behind No. 22 Montana Tech and RV Carroll, but ahead of the No. 23-ranked Warriors.
Riley Morris continued her dominant senior campaign, placing eighth overall in 17:24, once again the top NAIA finisher. She was followed by
Kaleah Hines (40th, 18:37),
Kiah Carlson (44th, 18:41),
Mattie Woodbury (46th, 18:42), and
Taylor Redick (56th, 19:08).
The Mounties are set to wrap up the regular season at Linfield University's George Oja Invite next Saturday. The women's race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men's at 11 a.m.
