Mounties Regain Possession of Wagon Wheel

PRINEVILLE, Ore.- Eastern Oregon was back in action Wednesday night as they traveled to Prineville, Ore. to take on Southern Oregon in a Cascade Collegiate Conference dual. The Mounties came back from a late Raider lead to take the Wagon Wheel Dual, 19-18.

Eastern jumped off to a hot start taking each of their first two matches. The second of which was a Braden Carson pin in the 133 pound division over Southern's Simon Graeber, giving the Mounties an early 9-0 lead. The Raiders responded, taking the next five matches adding a pin along the way in the 165 pound division by Jordan Faifai giving Southern an 18-9 lead with three matches left. The Mounties needed to make a run to stay in the dual, and they did just that. Kyle Knudtson started it off in the 184 pound division taking his match over the Raiders Kabb Christensen by decision, 18-12. Marco Retano followed with a win in the 197 pound division by medical decision awarding the Mounties four team points to make it 18-16 in favor of SOU. It all came down to the heavyweight division and Noel Orozco delivered. The senior took a hard fought match over Southern's Antonio Garcia by decision giving the Mountaineers a 19-18 victory in walk-off style.
