RENO, Nev. - Eastern Oregon University's men's wrestling team posted a 2-0 performance on the mat Friday, first triumphing over Montana State Northern with a narrow margin of 21-18, followed by a dominant performance against Wayland Baptist, securing a convincing 33-7 win.
 
Early matches proved to be the key in the first dual. In the opening match against Montana State Northern, Hunter Sparks set the tone with a quick victory at 125 pounds, pinning Leo Anderson in just 3 minutes and 39 seconds. 133-pounder Braden Carson extended the lead for Eastern Oregon, defeating Kolten Powers of Montana State Northern with a solid 8-1 decision. From there it was a back-and-forth affair with a key forfeit playing to the Mounties favor helping them secure the win, 21-18.
 
With one victory in hand, Eastern didn't let up and cruised to a 33-7 victory over Wayland Baptist for the second of the day. Wylee Lindeen and Kyle Knudtson earned redemption victories with a major decision and tech fall respectively in the second dual to help propel the Mounties over the Pioneers. The cherry on top was a Darrian Hoobery pin in the final match of the evening as the heavyweight earned a fall over Wayland Baptist's Ethan Salazar in under two minutes to finalize the score at 33-7
