HAVRE, Mont. — In a one-sided showdown on Saturday, Eastern Oregon defeated Montana State-Northern with a commanding score of 28-3 on the road. With their second consecutive win Eastern advanced to 2-4 on the season.
The Eastern Oregon offense was on fire from the start, with quarterback
Quincy Glasper connecting with
Malachi Spurrier for a 61-yard touchdown pass just 63 seconds into the first quarter.
Ethan Cutler's successful extra point gave Eastern a 7-0 lead.
Montana State-Northern managed to put some points on the board with a 25-yard field goal by Tate O'Neill in the second quarter, but Eastern Oregon quickly extended their lead.
Quincy Glasper connected with
Blake Davis for a 70-yard touchdown pass, making it 14-3.
The third quarter saw Eastern Oregon's
Aiden Patterson hammer in a 12-yard rushing touchdown, followed by another
Quincy Glasper to
Malachi Spurrier connection, this time for 27 yards. The third quarter ended with Eastern Oregon leading 28-3, a lead they would maintain until the end of the game.
Eastern dominated in total yards with 365 compared to Montana State-Northern's 253.
Quincy Glasper had another impressive performance, throwing for 257 yards and three touchdowns.
Eastern Oregon's defense continued their positive trend narrowly missing another shutout, recording two interceptions and limiting Montana State-Northern to only three points.
It was a physical game with plenty of laundry left on the field as the game had a total of 24 penalties, with each team accumulating 12.
The Mountaineers now shift their sights to next week's homecoming matchup with No. 8-ranked Carroll College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Community Stadium.
