Marshall, Mo- The Mountaineers were back in action over the weekend as they traveled to Marshall, Mo to compete in the Missouri Valley Open. Eastern battled hard as they had seven total placers, enough to tab them second in the team score, and one champion. 

The Mountaineers lone champion was Hunter Sparks of the 125 pound division. Sparks had a stellar weekend going 6-0 after a first round bye on day one of the Invite. Sparks had a dominant start to the tournament as he took each of his first two matches handily by tech fall. Sparks stayed consistent, controlling each match from start to finish on his route to the championship match where he ultimately matched up with Cornerstone's Trevor Marsman. Sparks capped off the championship match with a decisive 9-2 decision. In addition to Sparks' great day on the mat, he was awarded Missouri Valley Invite Outstanding Wrestler for his performance over the weekend. 

To add to a great individual day on the mat for the Mountaineers, they were tabbed second place scoring 142 points based on the individual placements. Eastern had 11 different Mounties add to the team score.
