PORTLAND – Mountaineers Softball bounced back on the road Friday afternoon with a 2-0 day one sweep over Warner Pacific to start the weekend. The Mounties took game one, 11-0, in five innings in what was a no-hitter. Eastern Oregon then scored a 4-2 win in game two over Knights to secure the league series win.
Game 1 – Eastern Oregon 11, Warner Pacific 0 (5 Innings)
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers (24-10, 12-4 CCC) were unstoppable on both sides of the ball with an 11-0 run-ruled win over the Knights (5-21, 3-14 CCC). They had 10 hits and did not surrender one to WPU.
• Starter
Amanda Smith was superb in the win, pitching another complete game. She secured the near perfect game by fanning six batters en route to her first career no hitter.
• Defensively, the Knights struggled as they committed three errors to go along with surrendering 10 hits. Of the 11 runs given up, 10 were earned.
• The Mounties grabbed the lead right away in the first, scoring four runs.
Hannah Tyree plated the first run in
Caitlin Crist with an RBI double to right field.
• The score grew to 2-0 when
Grace Gaither knocked an RBI base hit, scoring Tyree.
Haley Ebner made it 4-0 with a deep two RBI single to right field, scoring Gaither and
Karsyn Zaragoza.
• The score remained 4-0 until the fifth when Eastern racked up seven runs to put away the Knights. From the first to the fourth, Smith worked a 1-2-3 outing to keep WPU scoreless.

Kayla Berg pushed EOU's lead to 6-0 with a two RBI double to score Gaither and Tyree. Ebner then racked two more RBI in the game with a single to bring in Berg and Zaragoza.

Madison Stateler made it 10-0 with an RBI sacrifice fly, scoring
Shelby Starr.
• Tyree plated home the final run in Crist with an RBI single to right field to make it 11-0. EOU's lone error came in the bottom of the fifth, but they held strong regardless to secure the win.

Game 2 – Eastern Oregon 4, Warner Pacific 2
How it Happened
• The second contest was a lot closer as EOU held off a stingy Knights team by two runs. EOU led 4-0 entering the bottom of the sixth before WPU finally scored.
• The Knights did manage to outhit Eastern by one, 9-8, but once again struggled on defense. They had two errors in the contest to just one yet again by EOU.
• The game's first run was produced in the third by the Mounties.

• The score remained 1-0 until the fifth when EOU tacked on another run to go ahead by two. An RBI single from
Taylor Dow scored
Madison Stateler to give Eastern the 2-0 edge.
• The final two runs for the Mounties were scored in the sixth.
Haley Ebner made it a 3-0 game with an RBI sacrifice fly to score
Karsyn Zaragoza. An error by WPU scored the final run in
Kayla Berg.
• The first run for WPU came on an RBI single in the sixth. They then tacked on the second run with an RBI groundout, but a defensive play by EOU onthe scored secured the third out to end the game.
