SALEM, Ore. – Mountaineer Women's Lacrosse dropped its lone weekend match-up in a 19-6 loss to in-state rival Corban University. The loss drops Eastern Oregon's record to 1-5 on the year.
How it Happened
• Helping the Warriors (2-1) secure the home win was a 39-10 advantage in shots, with a 24-7 edge in shots on goal.
• Both teams racked up double figure draw controls with the Warriors having just two more than the Mounties at 13-11.
• Helping the Warriors secure the wire-to-wire win was six goals in each of the first two periods. They led 6-0 on the Mountaineers after the first frame.
• Both teams played well on defense to start, holding the game at a 0-0 bout through the first seven minutes of play.
• The Mountaineers first goal came from
Kate McAfee who went on to notch a hat trick. She scored 11:52 to play in the second to make it a 9-1 game.
• The only other goal for Eastern in the first half came from
Claire Bever. She scored with 6:24 left to play in the second as Corban went into the break leading 12-2.
• In the second half racked up four more goals, with two coming from McAfee. Her second goal of the day was a woman-up goal for EOU as she scored with 7:38 to play in the third.
• Defensively in the third period, the Mounties held the Warriors to just two goals. In the fourth, Corban added five goals with each one being a woman-up score.
• The first goal of the final period came from EOU as McAfee found the back of the net third time in the opening minute. She scored 14:12 on a woman-down goal for EOU to make it a 14-4 score.

Sydney Vopat got EOU within nine, 14-5, just over two minutes later. She scored with 12:06 to play as EOU looked to build some momentum.
• The final goal for EOU came from Bever who notched her second goal of the day. She scored with 10:12 left on the clock to get EOU within nine again, 15-6.
• Corban held up defensively the rest of the way and held EOU without a goal in the final 10 minutes. They tacked up four straight on offense as insurance to secure the 13-goal win.
