LA GRANDE, Ore. – Mountaineers Football and Head Coach Tim Camp are excited to announce their initial 2022 recruiting class. The group is made up of 21 student-athletes that signed National Letters of Intent to play at EOU. This class will join the Mounties in the fall of 2022.

The group is made up of 17 true freshmen and four transfers across four different states in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Three athletes are already on campus and the true freshman will join the Mounties in the fall of 2022.

Speaking about the 2022 class, Mountaineers Head Football Coach Tim Camp said,  "Every coaching staff in the country was excited leading up to National Signing Day and we were certainly no exception. With as big as this initial class is, we wanted to make sure we had everything sorted before announcing. I am confident that the 21 young men that are joining our program will help us compete in the Frontier Conference for championships on the field and they will be terrific representatives of our program, our university and our community."

Colt Matteson

Highlights
Matteson joins EOU from Bishop Union High School where he played under Arnie Palu. He was  a First Team All-League Linebacker and a Team Captain. He earned MaxPreps Player of the Game three times in his career. He helped lead his team to a CIF Central Section Championship in 2019 and a State Final appearance. His team was also the 2021 HDL League Champions. Matteson also competed and lettered in track & field for two seasons. 

Coach Camp on Matteson: "Colt is a big ,versatile, physical athlete that can do a lot of different things well. He's an Eastern Oregon Kind of Guy from the great state of California." 


Keoni Lindsay

Lindsay was a multiple-year varsity letterwinner at Ferris High School under Malik Roberson. In his senior year, Lindsay allowed less than 25 tot yards receiving and only three games in nine-plus games played. He also competed and lettered in basketball.

Coach Camp on Lindsay: "Keoni is a physical, explosive athlete that can run, and excelled on both sides of the ball in high school. He adds a different element of speed and athleticism to EOU football."

DuFour was a three-time varsity letterwinner at Eastmont High School under head coach Mike Don. He garnered All-Conference honors once in his prep career. He helped lead his team to three League Championships. DuFour also competed and lettered in wrestling one season.

Highlights
Delp joins Eastern as a three-year varsity letterwinner from Zillah High School under head coach Ryan Watson. As a junior he was named Second Team All-Conference at offensive line. In his senior season he garnered First Team All-Conference honors. He also earned Third Team honors on the defensive line as a junior and was a First Team selection as a senior. Delp was also an All-State nominee at defensive line in his senior season. He also plays baseball and will be a two-time letterwinner at the end of his prep career. He is the younger brother of Brett Delp who is on the Mounties football team.

Coach Camp on Delp: "Zane has stood out at EOU summer camps for the last couple of years. He is a no nonsense, get to work, talented big man. An Eastern Oregon Kind of Guy. "

Highlights
Raasss comes to La Grande from Mountain View High School where he was a multiple-year varsity letterwinner under head coach Judd Benedick. He helped lead his team to a 5A Southern Idaho Conference Championship in his senior season. He also competed and letter in baseball for two seasons. Raass was also named to the SIC Academic All-Conference Team three straight seasons (2019-2021) for his performance in the classroom.

Coach Camp on Raass: "Sosaia is a long, explosive and versatile athlete. His work ethic on and off the field will be a valuable asset to our team and community."

Highlights
White was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Eagle High School under the guidance of head coach John Hartz. In his senior season, White was named First Team All-Conference at Defensive Back. He competed in the Shrine All-Star Game as a senior. White will finish his prep career as a three-year letterwinner in track & field as well. He is a legacy signee as his grandfather played football at EOU as well. Academically, White has earned Second All-Conference Academic Awards, three in football and three in track & field.

Jakoby Moss

Highlights
Moss joins the Mountaineers as a four-year varsity letterwinner from Mountain View High School. He was a three-year starting quarterback under head coach Brian Crum. He was named First Team All-City as a junior. He garnered Honorable Mention All-City honors as a senior despite missing half the season with a broken collarbone. He set his high school's single game passing record with 402 yards and finished his prep career second in passing touchdowns with 32. He played in the Les Schwab All-Star Game as a senior. Academically, Moss was an All-State selection all four years for his work in the classroom. He also competed and lettered three years in lacrosse.

Coach Camp on Moss: "Jakoby was an awesome QB for his High School and excels in the classroom as well with a 4.0 GPA."


Bjorn Bergstrom

Highlights
Bergstrom was a three-year varsity letterwinner and a two-year Team Captain at Sherwood High School under head coach Kevin Hastin. As a senior he three for 1,844 yards, and 23 touchdowns en route to being named Second Team All-league at Quarterback. He was named First Team All-League at Safety hsi senior year after pulling down seven interceptions and went on to be named Honorable Mention All-State. He helped his team win two Pacific Conference Championships in 2019 and 2021. In 2021, he guided his squad to a State Quarterfinals appearance. Bergstrom also competed and lettered in basketball for three seasons. He helped his team win three Pacific Conference crowns.

Coach Camp on Bergstrom: "Bjorn is a proven winner from Sherwood. He's a true QB that can throw the rock with accuracy, power, and run when he needs to."


Brody Hasselstrom

Highlights
Hasselstrom comes to EOU as a multiple-year varsity letterwinner from Prairie High School under head coach Ryan Hasselstrom. He was named First Team All-State at Running Back one season and was named the WPL Player of the Year. He was also named an Idaho Sports Top-10 Running Back. In his senior campaign, Hasselstrom rushed for 299 yards and six touchdowns in one game. He helped lead his team to a 1AD1 State Championship as a junior and four-straight League Titles from 2018-2021. He is a legacy signee as his father Ryan Hasselstrom played football at EOU.

Coach Camp on Hasselstrom: "Brody had an amazing high school football career. He will provide versatility & toughness to the team, and be a great fit in the community."


Lawson Talamantez

Talamantez was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Seaside High School under head coach Aaron Tanabe. He was a two-time Honorable Mention All-State selection on defense as a junior and senior. Talamantez was an All-League selection on defense as well three times from his sophomore to senior year. He led his team in tackles from his sophomore to senior season and was a top-five tackler in the state of Oregon in his final two seasons. He was named a Team captain as a junior and senior. Talamantez is also a four-year varsity letterwinner in wrestling. He was a state placer as a sophomore and junior. He also competes in baseball and was a All-State selection as a junior.

Talbot joins the Mounties as a multiple-year varsity letterwinner from Kuna High School where he played under head coach Jeffery Schank. He was named All-Southern Idaho Conference as a senior. He helped lead his team to a State Championship in 2019. Talbot also competed and lettered in lacrosse for three years.

Teagen DeForest

Highlights
DeForest was a four-year varsity letter winner at La Pine High School under head coach Bo DeForest. He has garnered All-State honors twice in his prep career and was a four-time First Team All-League selection. He was also named Second Team All-League in his career. As a senior he was named the Mountain Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. In his junior season, DeForest was named the MVC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He also competed and lettered in wrestling, basketball, and baseball. In wrestling, he has lettered twice and qualified for state both years he wrestled. In baseball, DeForest lettered three times and is a two-time First Team All-League selection. He was named All-State as a junior. He helped his wrestling and baseball teams win a State Championship in 2019, respectively.

Coach Camp on DeForest: "We've wanted Teagen since we first saw him dominating the line of scrimmage at our EOU summer camps! He brings size and power to the line of scrimmage, and comes from a winning program."


Dounelson Mullen

Mullen was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Columbia High School under head coach Kevin Alley. He has earned First Team All-Conference honors at Cornerback three times from his sophomore to senior year. He was a First Team selection at Wide Receiver as a sophomore and garnered Second Team honors as a junior and senior. He helped his team win a League Title in 2019 and 2021. He also competed and lettered in baseball, tennis, basketball and track & field. In track, Mullen was second in the League and District in 100-meter and 200-meter dash, respectively.

Andrew Domingos

Domingos was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Hockinson High School. He was named First Team All-League at Linebacker as a junior and senior. He also garnered All-Region honors as a senior. In his senior campaign, Domingos tallied 159 total tackles, 14.0 sacks, scored a touchdown on defense, and blocked a pair of punts. He helped lead his team to three straight League Titles (2018-2020) and was part of the 2018 State Championship team. He also competed and lettered in wrestling and baseball. Domingos was named a Second Team All-League Outfielder as a junior. 

Coach Camp on Domingos: "AJ plays the game with a different level of violence and intensity. He was the Defensive Conference player of the year, and flat out makes plays."


Sam Cadenas

Highlights
Cadenas was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Hermiston High School. He was named Second Team All-Conference at offensive line as a junior and senior. He was also named First Team All-Conference his senior year at defensive line. He led the team in sacks and was named the Student-Athlete of the Year as a junior. Also competed and lettered in wrestling and soccer for three years. He was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection in wrestling and was named the 3A MCC Wrestler of the Year as a senior. Cadenas was also a two-time District Champion, a Regional Champion and placed third at State one year. Helped his wrestling team win a 3A District Title one season. He also garnered Second Team All-Conference honors at Forward in soccer. 

Coach Camp on Cadenas: "Sam is an extremely explosive athlete at his size, plays with a high motor, and will cause havoc for opposing Offensive Lines for years to come."


Samuel Larson

Larson was a multiple-year varsity letterwinner at Mountain View High School under head coach Brian Crum. He was named Second Team All-Conference at Tight End as a senior. That same year was also tabbed Honorable Mention All-Conference at Defensive End. He finished his senior season with 70 total tackles and 6.0 sacks on defense. Offensively, Larson hauled in three touchdown passes, grabbed over 20 receptions and finished with over 200 receiving yards. He was named the team's Defensive MVP and Most Inspirational Player. He also competed and lettered in basketball and track & field.

Brody MacMillan

MacMillan is a local product who was a multiple-year letterwinner at La Grande High School under head coach Rich McImoill. He was named the Greater Oregon League Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. He went on to earn All-State honors at Running Back and was named First Team All-GOL at both Running Back and Linebacker. Helped his team win a State Championship in 2019. He also competed and lettered in wrestling and was part of the 2020 State Championship team.

Coach Camp on MacMillan: "Brody is a local product from right here in La Grande. He's built an extremely successful high school football resume, and adds athleticism, speed, and versatility to Mountaineers Football."

Sieveking was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Redmond High School under head coach Brent Wasche. He garnered Second Team All-Conference honors at Linebacker as both a junior and senior. He helped lead his team to a District Championship in 2022. He also competed and lettered in track & field and cheer.

Coach Camp on Sieveking: "Jason plays with an extremely high motor, he's violent on contact, and just loves the game of football. He will be a force for years to come in Mountie Blue."

Highlights
Davis joins the Mountaineers after spending the last three years at NCAA Division II institute Western Oregon University. He appeared in five games in 2021, totaling four tackles. He was a member of the 2019 GNAC Championship team. He was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Pendleton High School under head coach Erik Davis. As a senior he garnered First Team All-Area and All-Conference honors at Wide Receiver. He was also named First Team All-Conference at Kick returner. He went onto earn Second Team All-State honors at receiver. He was nominated for the Les Schwab All-Star Game. He helped lead his team to a State Semifinals appearance and was named the Player of the Game. His team won two conference crowns and made two State Playoff appearances. He also competed and lettered in baseball and track & field for two seasons. He was a four-year varsity letterwinner in wrestling as well. He was part of the District Championship 4x100-meter relay team, a District finalist in long jump & the 100, and qualified for state. He also was a District finalist and state qualifier in wrestling. His uncle, Kris Davis, played baseball at EOU.

Coach Camp on Davis: "Blake is a WOU transfer and son of Pendleton High head coach Eric Davis. Blake is a high IQ receiver and Eastern Oregon Kind of Guy."


Andre Martinez

Highlights
Martinez also comes to EOU as a transfer from Western Oregon University. He appeared in eight games in 2021, pulling in one reception on offense and made five tackles on special teams. He was a member of the 2019 GNAC Championship team. Martinez was a multiple-year varsity letterwinner at Lakeridge High School under head coach Elvis Akpla. He was named First Team All-League at Wide Receiver and Kick Returner. He also garnered Second Team All-League honors at Cornerback. Martinez also competed and lettered in track & field. He was a First Team All-League selection in the long jump and was part of a 4x100-meter relay squad that was named Second Team All-League.

Shields joins EOU as a transfer from NCAA Division II institute Southern Arkansas University where he spent the 2021 season. He is a four-year varsity letterwinner from Weiser High School where he played under head coach Tom Harrison. He was a two-time First Team All-State selection (2020-21) and garnered First Team All-Region honors the same two years as well. On defense, he tallied 74 tackles, 21 TFL, 6.0 sacks, forced three fumbles, and blocked two punts as a senior. He also carried the ball eight times for 104 yards and scored three touchdowns. He helped his team make the State Playoffs four-straight years and they won three District Championships. He played in the Idaho Shrine Bowl in his senior year. Shield also competed and lettered in baseball. He was named Second Team All-State as a senior and garnered 3A All-State Tournament honors that year. He helped lead his baseball team to a 3A State Title as a senior.
