ASHLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Softball bowed out of the 2021 Cascade Collegiate Conference Softball Championships presented by U.S. Bank as the Mountaineers fell 4-0 in an elimination game to No. 2-seeded College of Idaho. With the loss, Eastern Oregon saw its record go to 16-32.
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers were held to just two hits in the loss, while the Coyotes (36-15) tacked on four runs on eight hits. The Yotes did have two errors in the win, while Eastern committed just one in seven innings of work.
• The Yotes managed to score all four of their runs in the second and third inning to stay alive in postseason play. For the Mountaineers they did not post a hit in the contest until the sixth and seventh inning, respectively.
• A one-out bunt single got a runner on for the Yotes that led to their first run. Two batters later, a single that went up the middle allowed the runner to come in for C of I and made it a 1-0 game going into the third.
• C of I worked a 1-2-3 frame to start the third and in the bottom half of the inning they tacked on three runs thanks to three hits. A leadoff single got a runner on before a deep base hit to right field allowed her to score and gave C of I a 2-0 edge.
• The Yotes then got a pair of runners on base and scored both with a triple to left center. The Mountaineers looked to threaten and avoid the shutout, but the Yotes kept EOU's bats at bay to hold on for the 4-0 win.

For the Coyotes
• Hattie Hruza was 2-3 to lead C of I and had two RBI to go along with a run scored.
• Lacie Miller went a perfect 2-2 at the plate and scored a run.
• Trystin Crofts was 1-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
• Katelyn Wilfert fanned seven batters in a complete game pitched.
