LEWISTON, Idaho – Eastern Oregon University Baseball dropped the final two games of its road series against the No. 9 Lewis-Clark State College Warriors Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers fell 10-3 and 10-0 to drop their overall record to 3-17 and 3-13 in Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Game 1 – LC State 10, Eastern Oregon 3
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers managed eight hits in the game, while the Warriors tallied 14 in the win. EOU had two errors in the first contest while LC State had one.
• The Warriors opened up the contest with two runs in the first. A leadoff double got a runner one and a sacrifice fly scored the first run. A walk drew the final runt to give the Warriors a 2-0 edge.
• The lead grew to 4-0 for the Warriors in the third. A sacrifice fly brought in the first run to make it a 3-0 game. An RBI double to left scored run No. 4 to extend the Warriors lead to four runs.
• The first run for EOU came in the fourth inning.
Juan Guardado got on base with a leadoff walk. He was plated home on a
Matthew Bennett RBI single to right field. The Mountaineers kept it at 4-1 until the Warriors added two runs in the sixth.
• The two runs for the Warriors came on a two-run shot over the center field fence. A leadoff single got a runner on before the home run on a 1-2 pitch put the Warriors ahead 6-1. The lead grew to 9-1. An RBI single got things started for the Warriors.
• Leading 7-1, LC State tacked on its next two runs in the frame with a two-RBI single to deep left center. EOU scored its final two runs of the game in the eighth.
Brooks Dyer and
Trevor Curl crossed home plate on a two-RBI base hit from
Dane Kelsey.
• The final run for the Warriors also came in the eighth. An RBI base hit to left field allowed the leadoff runner to score to bring the score to its final 10-3.

• Zach Needham was a perfect 3-3 and had two RBI in the win.
• Eric Chavarria picked up the win after pitching five complete. He had a game-high seven strikeouts.
Game 2 – LC State 10, Eastern Oregon 0 (7 Innings)
How it Happened
• EOU struggled offensively in game two as the team managed just five hits while the Warriors posted 13 hits. Helping the Warriors end the contest early was eight runs scored in the seventh.
• The first run for LC State came in the second on an RBI single to right field. The score remained 1-0 until the fourth. The second run scored was on the effort of an RBI single to center despite EOU getting two outs in the first two at bats.
• The scoring run for the Warriors got going with a two-run homer to left field to make it a 4-0 game. A single to left extended the lead to 5-0 before another base hit, this time to center, pushed the score to 6-0 for LC State.
• A three-run homer later in the inning extended the lead to 9-0. The home run came on the first pitch to clear the bases. The final Warriors run came on a hit by pitch after the bases were loaded to bring in the final run and end the contest in seven innings.

Carsten Manderbach went 2-3 to lead EOU.

Easton Watterson each had a hit in three at bats, respectively.

For the Warriors
• Aidan Nagle was 3-4 with a run scored and five RBI. He also hit a home run in the win.
• Dillon Plew went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
• Zach Threlfall also hit a home run and finished 1-2 with two RBI.
• Greg Blackman picked up the win in four innings pitched of relief work. He had three strikeouts in the win.

• Eastern will not be back in action until mid-April when the team hosts College of Idaho in the first true home series of the season. The series is set to take place April 10-11 in La Grande.
