CALDWELL, Idaho - Mountaineers Football suffered its sixth straight loss Saturday afternoon as they fell 21-3 on the road to rival No. 19 College of Idaho. With the defeat, Eastern Oregon falls to 3-6 on the year with the same mark in Frontier Conference.
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers managed just 187 yards of total offense while the Yotes (6-2, 6-2 Frontier) put up 352 en route to the home finale win.
• Helping the Yotes secure the win was forcing five turnovers against the Mountaineers. EOU forced three turnovers but struggled to establish any offense in the loss.
• The game produced just one score in each quarter as defense was the theme for the majority. Both teams had chances with field goals but combined for five missed attempts.
• The lone score of the first quarter was at the 5:22 mark as Ryan Hibbs found John Krepps for a 22-yard score. Going into the second, it was a 7-0 lead for the Yotes.
• The Yotes and the Mountaineers traded three-and-outs and turnovers for a second in the second quarter and the only score came with 44 seconds left in the first half.
• C of I made it a 14-0 game with a short one yard pass for the score. The touchdown capped a nine-play, 54-yard drive that ate up 3:02 off the clock and made it a two-score game at halftime.
• The Mountaineers lone score of the afternoon came early in the third quarter with 11:31 to play in the frame. A 45-yard field goal from
Zachary Cahill brought the score to 14-3.
• The score stayed at 14-3 as neither team managed to establish a rhythm on offense and both defenses played well throughout.
• The final score of the day came with 7:36 to play in the fourth when Nick Calzaretta went untouched for a 76-yard touchdown run. His long run brought the score to the final of 21-3.
Mountaineers Stat Leaders

Nathan Reed rushed for 52 yards on 12 carries to lead the ground game.

Carson Bohning got the start at quarterback. He was 11-23 through the air for 105 yards but was picked off three times.

Isaiah Thomas had six catches for 69 yards to lead the receiving corps.Â

Sage DeLong led the defense with nine total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

Hayden Brandon each finished with eight tackles.
For the Yotes
• Ryan Hibbs with 17-13 through the air for 199 yards and two touchdowns.
• Nick Calzaretta rushed the ball 17 times for 123 yards and one score.
• Bo Stevens had five catches for 57 yards to lead the team.
• Taeson Hardin led the defense with nine tackles.Â
• Keagan McCoy forced two fumbles, had 4.0 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks. All were game-highs.
• Dorian Hardin led the way in interceptions with two.
