Women's Basketball Runs Win Streak to 10 with 67-58 Win at WWU

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.- For the second night in a row, the Eastern Oregon women's basketball team collected their second win over the Walla Walla Wolves 67-58 on the road, improving the team's winning streak to a season-best 10 games Sunday afternoon in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

Leading the Mountianeers (19-7, 13-3 CCC) was junior Taylor Stricklin who had her first double-double of the season and collected career-highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Jane Nelson earned 12 points shooting 50 percent from behind the arc with five rebounds. Junior Megan Still had another solid night putting up ten points with three assists and five rebounds. Eastern shot 44.4 percent from both field goals and three's.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Within the first minute of play, junior Taylor Stricklin drained her first three of the night, giving the Mountaineer' the first points of the game. However, the Wolves, learning from the night before, had more fight early and knew they needed to keep the Mounties to smaller runs. Back and fourth for the first quarter, Eastern was up by five points at 19-14 going into the second.

Feeling the Wolves push back, the Mountaineers still kept their distance leading at all times, staying up by seven points all of the second quarter and ending the first half up 32-25. Putting distance between themselves and WWU, EOU found ways to score on almost every possession.

Walla Walla attempted a late come back getting within eight points again to end the third quarter at 49-41. However, this was a Mountaineer controlled court, and the final quarter mimicked the previous night with EOU running away with the win 67-58.
