Scott Earns EOU Volleyball’s 9th POW Award in 2019

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sophomore middle hitter Cambree Scott was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference's Red Lion Defender of the Week, helping lead the Eastern Oregon volleyball team to two wins over the weekend, the conference office announced Monday.

Cambree Scott • Sophomore • Middle Hitter • CCC Defender of the Week

Scott earned her first career player of the week award and the team's ninth already in just six weeks of awards. In all, the Mountaineers have won the defender of the week award five of six times.

The sophomore out of Bend, Oregon, helped lead EOU to its third and fourth wins in a row with victories at home over Evergreen and Northwest. Scott finished with four block assists and eight kills on Friday in a four set victory over the Geoducks. On Saturday, the sophomore followed up with an even better game with seven block assists and seven kills.

Scott has enjoyed a breakout year for the Mountaineers, ranking third in the NAIA in total blocks with 83 and fifth in blocks per set at 1.46. She leads the CCC in both categories. Last year as a freshman, she had 118 total blocks in nearly double the number of sets. Earlier this season, she posted 12 block assists against Hope International, and has had at least six blocks in six different matches.

The No. 8 Mountaineers have a big weekend ahead, visiting Oregon Tech on Friday followed by a heavyweight bout with No. 5 Southern Oregon on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Ashland.
