Game Notes: Mountaineers Host No. 6 College of Idaho

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon football team returns home for its fourth game at Community Stadium in 2019, hosting rival No. 6 College of Idaho on Saturday at 1 p.m.

NOTES

• The Mountaineers enter the weekend with a 2-6 overall record and 2-3 in the Frontier. EOU has lost two-straight games, including a close 23-10 loss at No. 20 Montana Tech last week. In the game, the EOU defense limited the Orediggers to under 300 yards of offense, but the Mounties managed just 171 yards.
 
• The Mountaineers are 13-31-1 all-time against the College of Idaho, but are 5-6 under head coach Tim Camp. The Mounties fell to the Yotes 48-12 in the season opener this year and have lost 2-straight to the Yotes. EOU is 3-2 in La Grande under Camp.
 
• EOU holds an all-time record of 287-473-14 (.379). 2019 marks the 74th-consecutive season in program history. EOU did not compete between 1942-45 due to World War II.
 
• On Aug. 31 in the season opener, the No. 15 Yotes dominated the line of scrimmage with 377 rushing yards, scoring five rushing touchdowns while limiting EOU to 66 yards on the ground in a  48-12 victory for C of I.
 
• The Blue and Gold is 34-26 at Community Stadium all-time under Camp. EOU has gone 1-2 so far at home this year earning a dominant 45-7 win over MSUN on Oct. 12. EOU plays two of its final three games at Community Stadium.
 
• The Mountaineers made their first trip to the NAIA Championships in 2016, reaching the semifinals.
 
• The Coyotes have been the best team in the Frontier Conference this year and one of the top teams in the NAIA, ranking No. 6 in the latest top-25 poll. C of I is on a current 13-game winning streak after winning its final six games of the 2018 season.

282: The EOU defense limited Montana Tech to just 282 yards of offense last Saturday in Butte.
 
1: Sophomore Josh Mendoza was named the Frontier's Special Teams Player of the Week with a punt block return for a touchdown.
 
7: Kicker Jaiden Machuca has made seven of his eight field goal attempts this year with a long of 33 yards.
 
42: The Mountaineers have 42 wins to just 17 losses when winning time of possession under Coach Camp.
 
10: Safety Zackary Jacobs ranks 10th in the NAIA in total inteceptions with 4.
 
21: Receiver Tanner Zenke ranks 21st in the NAIA in kick off return yards with 352.
