Game Notes: Mountaineers Welcome Rival Southern Oregon

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon football team will be at home for the second game in a row, hosting rival Southern Oregon on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Community Stadium for the annual Military Appreciation game.

NOTES

• The Mountaineers enter the weekend with a 2-4 overall record and 2-3 in the Frontier. EOU is coming off a big win in which they defeated Montana State-Northern handily 45-7. In the win, EOU outgained the Lights 523 yards to 239 in a dominant performance in all three faces for the Mounties.
 
• Saturday's game will be the 78th meeting between the two rivals with Southern Oregon owning a 54-20-3 record against EOU. The Mountaineers have won the last two games most recently 24-21 on Sep. 7 in Ashland.
 
• EOU holds an all-time record of 287-471-14 (.379). 2019 marks the 74th-consecutive season in program history. EOU did not compete between 1942-45 due to World War II.
 
• In the last matchup between the Mountaineers and Raiders, EOU came out on top with a 24-21 victory. The Blue and Gold won the game on the final drive as Kai Quinn hit Saige Wilkerson in the end zone for a four-yard score with just 10 seconds left on the clock.
 
• The Mountaineers are 33-25 at Community Stadium all-time under Camp. EOU has gone 1-1 so far at home this year with a 35-10 loss to Montana Tech, followed by a 45-7 win over MSUN. EOU plays three of its final five games at Community Stadium.
 
• The Mountaineers made their first trip to the NAIA Championships in 2016, reaching the semifinals.
 
• After a slow start to the season, the Raiders are on a two game winning streak including a 21-14 win over reigning Frontier champions Rocky Mountain. The Raiders lost their three Frontier Conference games by just three points each.

10: EOU defeated the Raiders on Sep. 7 thanks to a touchdown catch by Saige Wilkerson with just 10 seconds left.

6: Kicker Jaiden Machuca has made all six of his field goal attempts this year with a long of 33 yards.
