Men’s Wrestling Holds Steady at No. 20 in NAIA Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Eastern Oregon men's wrestling team remained ranked No. 20 in the third installment of the NAIA Coaches' Top-20 Poll.
 
After receiving votes in the first two polls of the season, the Mountaineers are in the top-20 for the second-straight poll. The team is receiving 42 points in the latest poll, five less than the previous one.
 
The Mounties (8-7) most recently went 2-2 at the CCC/GPAC Duals in Chandler, Arizona, defeating receiving votes Concordia in the process.
 
The Blue and Gold continue to battle in one of the premier wrestling conferences in the NAIA that includes five other teams in the top-20. Montana-State Northern remains ranked third, Providence moved up one spot to No. 4, followed by Embry-Riddle up to No. 6. Menlo moved up to No. 9 while Southern Oregon also bumped up to No. 12.
 
On top of the No. 20 ranking, EOU also has three individual wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes.
 
Senior Mhar Caballa was nearly unbeatable over the month of December maintaining his No.4 ranking in the 125-pound weight class. Caballa received 136 points in the poll, an increase of two from the previous ranking.
 
Senior Drake Randall also remained ranked No. 4 at 165 pounds, receiving 136 points. Randall has been a consistent force for EOU in the middle of duals and has often been asked to wrestle up a weight class this season. He owns a win over No. 5 Andrew Bartel of Montana State-Northern.
 
Junior Blake McNall rounds out EOU's ranked wrestlers, earning a ranking for the fourth-straight poll this season. McNall dropped five spots to No. 13, receiving 74 points at 133 pounds.
 
The Mountaineers are next in Atherton, California for the Menlo Duals and Tournament. On Friday, EOU will compete in dual matches followed by the tournament on Saturday.
