Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Ends Competition against Southern Oregon

ASHLAND, Or. – Eastern Oregon men's and women's wrestling teams competed against Southern Oregon on Saturday, in their final dual before the conference and national championships. Men's wrestling lost 27-16, as women's wrestling fell 25-19.

Men's wrestling opened up the day with a win by junior Mhar Caballa in the 125-lbs match against Roy Long by decision. Junior Drake Randall defeated Hunter Hodges, also by decision at the 165-lbs match. In the 174-lbs match sophomore Jacob Dupuis put on a dominant performance, beating his opponent by major decision. Senior Eric Fan got the final win for the Mounties by pinning his opponent.

For the women's, sophomore Cassidy Freeman, junior Jessica DeHart, freshman Alexis Cavero and freshman Madisen Bozovich won their matches. Freeman won her 109-lbs matchup by forfeit while DeHart pinned her opponent, Olivia Ioppolo in the 116-lbs matchup. Cavero beat Sienna Ramirez 11-1 by technical fall and Bozovich won by forfeit.

Women's wrestling ended up losing the dual 25-19, mostly due to a number of forfeits. The Mounties lost the 130, 136, and 143-lbs matchups by forfeit.
