LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Head Football coach
Tim Camp announced the signing of 47 student-athletes for the 2015 EOU recruiting class.
"I'm extremely excited about this class," EOU coach
Tim Camp said. "We addressed many needs and added quality depth in the 4 phases of the game here at Eastern."
The signing class includes 16 SKILL players, 11 COMBOS players, 16 BIGS and five quarterbacks to round out the class. The six spring term transfers are expected to bring valuable experience to the roster immediately and will help fill some of the void left by Eastern's graduating players.
According to Camp they addressed some key needs with this class, "We obviously signed a large number of kids. We needed to add some depth with this class to help give our program some stability as we have increased our roster size for next year. The other thing we addressed was our team speed and size of our BIGS. I believe we will be significantly faster across the board but particularly in the skill positions. There are some extraordinarily talented players in this class that will help our program take the next step for years to come."
Coach Camp and the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers staff will begin spring practice on April 11, with the Spring Game on May 9th at Community Stadium. All practices are held at the I.M. Practice facility and are open to the public. The official practice schedule will be posted on www.EOUSports.com in the coming weeks.
Coach Camp gives the bulk of the credit to his assistant coaches, "We had a great plan. Coach Paopao was our recruiting coordinator. He along with Coach Udy, Coach McNally, Coach Jones, Coach Gayman and Coach Woody all did a fabulous job in this recruiting process. I believe that if these student/athletes can come in here and continue what they have done in high school it should be a real special class."
Camp went on to say, "I am very proud of this group and the quality of student-athlete we are attracting to EOU. It is a team effort that would not have happened without the unwavering support of our entire athletic department, admissions, financial aid and our outstanding faculty who played an important role in the recruiting process."
