No. 21
The Eastern Oregon University football team climbed in the second regular season edition of the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25. EOU comes in this week as the No. 21 ranked team in the nation.  This is a four spot jump for EOU. The Mountaineers are one of four Frontier Conference schools in the top 25. The third regular season Coaches' Top 25 Poll comes out on Monday, Sept. 29th.
 
Last Weekend
Last weekend, the Mountaineers defeated Montana Tech, 39-13, last Saturday afternoon. EOU rushed for a season-high 259 yards.Zach Bartlow led the Mountaineers, as he was 17-of-31 for 219 yards and three touchdowns. TJ Esekielu rushed for a game-high 79 yards and AJ Prom followed with 72 rushing yards. Jace Billingsley recorded 104 receiving yards on four receptions.
 
Last Time verse
The last time the Mountaineers faced Rocky Mountain, was Oct. 19, 2013 in Billings, Mont. The Battlin' Bears defeated EOU 45-13.
 
All-Time Verse
EOU has faced Rocky Mountain 17 times in program history and Eastern Oregon holds an 11-6 lead in the all-time series.
 
Looking at Rocky Mountain
The Battlin' Bears of Rocky Mountain comes into the contest against the Mountaineers with an overall record of 3-1 and 2-1 in the Frontier Conference. Rocky Mountain suffered its first loss of the season last Saturday to Carroll College. The Battlin' Bears are averaging 29.5 points per game and are allowing 25.5 points per game. Rocky Mountain is averaging 298.0 yards per game, 254.6 yards through the air and 43.6 yards on the ground per game.
 
Top 10
Zach Bartlow, Byron Benson, Marc David, and Jace Billingsley currently ranks in the top 10 of the nation in several statistical categories. Bartlow ranks fifth in total offense per game (328.7), and seventh in passing yards per game (291.3). Benson ranks seventh in the nation in interceptions (3). David is averaging 43.3 yards per punt, sixth best in the nation. Billingsley is currently tenth in the nation averaging 7.3 receptions per game.
 
First Safety Since 2012
Last Saturday, the Mountaineers recorded their first safety since, Oct. 13, 2012 against Rocky Mountain. EOU recorded a team safety, which was their first points of the contest against Montana Tech.
 
Homecoming
Eastern Oregon's next home game is homecoming. Wear Blue when coming to Community Stadium for the evening­­ contest verse College of Idaho.
 
What's on Tap
The Mountaineers return home on Oct. 4th for its homecoming contest against College of Idaho at 6 p.m. at Community Stadium.
